Hi Everyone, 🙂
We spent 2 days in Petra, Jordan. It was Petra that made Sanjeev plan the Jordan trip. And I have to say that I’d still take a few more days to soak up the beauty of the place. The whole time I was feeling as if I was dreaming and there is no way a place like this could exist on this earth.
We started our trip from Dead Sea and a made stop at the Crusade castle.“The castle was built in 1115 by Baldwin I of Jerusalem during his expedition to the area where he captured Aqaba on the Red Sea in 1116. Originally called ‘Krak de Montreal’ or ‘Mons Regalis’, it was named in honour of the king’s own contribution to its construction (Mont Royal). ” There is also a Monetral Hotel which is actually a cave. It was world’s smallest hotel because it has just one room. People do come an stay there overnight. 🙂 There were warrior-clad people at the castle. They look us to the little room and showerd their hospitality on us by serving us tea and some good laughs. I shared a pic on my instagram HERE. People in Jordan are some of the nicest and warmest I have come across. There are so many nice memories I am taking back from here. 🙂
The next visit was a drive to our beautiful lime-stoned hotel , Beit Zaman. It’s pretty much like loving in an ancinet castle. I wish the rooms had that old world charm too but nevertheless it was a great stay.
The first day to Petra was a long walk to the treasury. “The face of the structure is marked by hundreds of bullet holes made by the local Bedouin tribes that hoped to dislodge riches that were once rumored to be hidden within it. ”
The second day, we got ourselves dressed in our comfiest shorts and sport shoes and left for a long trek of 950 staircase…up to the Al Deir monastery It was tough, tiring and insane. Not many people do it but we did it. And we loved every bit of it. You may read more about Petra HERE
