Hi Everyone, π
After a long and tiring 11 hour bus drive from Antalya to Cappadocia, we were left with only one day to explore Cappadocia. The day started very early in morning, at around 4 am, for the most EPIC balloon ride ever. They wanted us to see the sunrise and it was an hour long ride in the balloon. Cappadocia in real terms is a valley of balloons. The whole valley gets dotted with beautiful colorful balloons and it is hard to put in words how dreamy the whole place looks. π
After the balloon ride, we started our day with a trip to Kaymakli Underground City. Right after going 3 levels down, I got claustrophobic, started sweating and choking up. It got very dramatic and I literally had to struggle my way out as soon as possible. loll!! I don’t know what happened to me- lack of oxygen or close spaces…not sure. Anyway, when we came out I gulped down glasses of juice, did a bit of shopping and I was fine. π The shopkeeper saw Sanjeev’s camera and loved it so much that he hung a little evil eye charm on his camera. Super sweet! π
Then we headed to the Imagination ValleyΒ (Devrent valley), did a pottery class, had a lunch, spent some time with ducks at the red sea, saw gondola rides crossing the river and headed to the Fairy Chimneys. You can see a little video on my Instagram HERE.
We, along with two other friends got down at the Goreme Open Air Museum. On our way back, we were looking for a lift. A horse-buggy guy stopped and asked all 4 of us to hop in. It was an amazing tick-tock horse-cart ride back to the hotel. Amazing guy – offered us beer, spoke English and said ‘ have a great life ahead’. Travel brings the most amazing experiences. π
We had an amazing night planned for the Dervish Whirling Dance. The location was inside a huge cave. There were hundreds of people from various nationalities. Food and drinks were being served and there were different cultural dances going on one after the other. The cave was roaring with laughter, claps and talks. It was a hugeeee happy family of strangers and the most EPIC one ever. π And boy! we saw the craziest and the most professional belly dance of our lives.
A day to remember! π
I wore this gorgeous flowy dress from Rahul Mishra Couture. Although couture dresses are mostly to be worn on special occasions and red carpets but I feel my most special occasions are my travels only. So why not? π
