How to Plan Your Trip and Must Do Things in St Petersberg

Hi Everyone, πŸ™‚

This is my last post from our Russia winter trip. I wore this dress for a New year party at our hotel, Four Seasons. It was an absolutely great stay and a fantastic trip. We saw the frozen rivers, soaked sun on our snow covered balcony , walked in the snowfall and tumbled on the snow. It was one heck of a daring and a spine chilling experience. If you ask us if we’d do it all over again, may be not. Both of us are summer people. We crib in Delhi winters only, this is was an experience that is worth telling stories about. πŸ˜€ It is the prettiest winters we have ever seen and looking back ‘-16 degrees’ only feels like a dream.

But I can’t wait to go back to see St Petersburg in summers and its famous White Nights.

How To Plan Β and must do things:

    • We took a flight from Moscow to St petersburg. It was a 1.5 hour Aerofloat flight. Pretty good.
    • Definitley look for temperature and pack accordingly.
    • Plan for atleast 5+ days. St Petersburg is huggggeee and totally worth spending time at.
    • Had language problems but still manageable.
    • Food was never an issue despite me being a vegetarian.
    • Be prepared to spend a lot of money. Russia turned out to be one of the most expensive trips we have ever done. Everything you buy there would be marked up 20-30% as compared to many other places in the world esp Europe.
    • Definitley try Russian blinis, Russian vodka, black bread, caviar (if you are a non vege).
    • If you are travelling in winters, load up on your carbs. Food is the only thing that would prevent you from falling ill and you’d enjoy the winters more. Really leave your dieting behind.
    • I found Moscow more fashionable that St Petersberg. But really you can dress up to your heart’s content without any hesitation.
    • Would highly recommend our Hotel Four Seasons. Both the location and the hotel itself were fantabulous.

Must Visit PlacesΒ

    • Church of the Savior on Spilt Blood
    • State Hermitage Museum and Winter Palace + a night lights show
    • Grand Palace
    • Nevsky Prospekt
    • Peter and Paul Fortress
    • Mariinsky Theatre
    • Catherine Palace
    • Tsum for high end luxury shopping
    • Galleria for high street shopping

Can’t wait to show your my Russian makeup haul on IMBB in a few days. See you all very soon with another adventure. Love you a tonnn!!!!

Such warmth even from the snow filled pictures. Probably its the words power. πŸ™‚

If you ask me, I would go only to Alaska and Antarctica to see the other side of world, but not big plans for winter places. Me too not a winter person. I love bare skin and flowy fabrics!
And can’t wait to see your haul pictures!! *Excited

    • Rati says:

wow Totally loved this new Year dress super gorgeous and its smart idea to cover legs with black tights/socks with over knee boots, I need to get over knee boots now lol πŸ˜€ Seriously winters they say is best time for dressing smart and you certainly nailed it though I wonder how you all manage to luk slim at the same time with in & out layers πŸ˜› Moscow seems out of list for us too but now after looking at gorgopus pics and wintery viewit seems a must try place. Super duper gorgeous pics and view!!

    • Rati says:

yes you should totally try that out neetu. it’s look gorg on you. :)) i have very happily put on 2 kgs. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ thanks a ton. πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

i think since you stay in the US and have experienced kinda mad cold already i think russia would be a lovely experience for you. for most of us indian who barely even experience 0 degrees in winters, it gets a bit too much to handle.:P

      thanks a lot. big hug!

  11. anubhuti says:

you are looking super sexy Rati…loved your dress and thank you for the trip plannning tips :*

  12. Mansi says:

    Hi Rati,

You forgot the promise of meeting me in Moscow!

    Great pictures and good post.
Yes Russia is expensive even after the ruble devaluation, esp. In winters. It was -24 today. I live at old Arbat 1 Km from Kremlin. I wish I could meet you
    Maybe next time .

Btw we went to Switzerland for our Christmas and new year break. Probably I would have missed you anyway as we were away for 2 weeks and came back on 3rd. Please come in summers for white nights and the cruise in st Petersburg and witness the most beautiful spectacle you can see , drawbridges . Parties are famous during white nights when city refuses to sleep.
We are planning for cruise from st. Petersburg to Nordic and Baltic countries during summer . You should try that too.
    Stay blessed
    Mansi
    Your travel twin !

  13. Mansi says:

Forgot to agree on one thing, Moscow is fashionable , dare I say more than there cousins in Europe.
Did you see the luxury malls gumm & tsum? Russians are show offs , I am pretty sure you might have sensed that too by looking at the cars on roads and did you notice how wide (16 lane ) roads were in the center of Moscow.

  14. Rati says:

haha!! next time for sure when we are in the same continent. πŸ˜› your trip sounds absolutely brilliant. actually i have been to paris so many times and seen so much of arab crowd that nothing looks over to me any more. πŸ˜› and we kind of liked russians. no sour experiences. There was a lot of language problem but somehow all the people we met were patient and helpful. πŸ™‚

-24 must be sooo insane. πŸ˜› wow! 1km from kremlin. your favourite popcorn-tea spot spot must be red square only. how super uber cool is that. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

yes the lanes were soo wide but still had traffic jams. hard to believe. I mean we crib about delhi traffic. Russia gave us a different taste of traffic altogether. πŸ˜›

all in all a fantastic and a memorable trip. would looove to see st petersberg in summers. not sure when that would happen but it is def on the to-do list. you have a greeeat trip. and cheers to many more adventures and stories. wish you a very happy new year mansi. :-*
