Hi Everyone, π
I think we got so tired after the Tiger Safari that we took more than two weeks to plan our next trip. π Jomol had been after our lives to visit Kerala. But Sanjeev and I always gave her the argument that if we could go all the way to Kerala, we’d rather go to Goa. But anyway, we got convinced. π Now I didn’t know that Kerala also had so many options. Man! planing a trip is not easy. π So again we took Jomol’s suggestion on visiting Kovalam. π and Boy!!! we LOVE IT!! :))
First, this is the pre monsoon time for Kerala. So the weather is just perfect. It is super humid but that apart there is constant flow of wind. The sun is not too harsh and you have the beautiful misty mornings to enjoy.
This was exactly the kind of vacation that we were looking forward to. The weather is somehow putting us to sleep. We fell asleep for hours during the day and then I fell asleep at 11 last night. I am sooo relaxed and peaceful after coming here. I just can’t put it in words.Β
Vivanta by Taj has made an absolutely stunning eco friendly property here in Kovalam. We reached here after a 4 hour flight from Delhi to Trivendrum and a 30 minutes drive from the airport. It’s stunning and I just can’t get enough of it. (more on that later) Β Sharing some pics from the little walk we took outside. Hope you enjoy them! π
Oh! I tried Idiyappam yesterday. I think I am going to have it everyday. π

Would you believe I haven’t been to Kovalam? Have been to other beaches near by, but not that one. Have fun, love your vivid green top, it vies with the green of Kerala!
And oh, as Jomol, an alleppey girl if I remember right, the thing to NOT miss in Kerala is the Alleppey-Kumarakom houseboat journey through the backwaters and Lake Vembanad – take a day or two over it, and that is something you won’t get anywhere else in the world.
As a Kochi (Cochin) girl, I am extremely partial to the heritage Dutch-Portuguese areas of Mattancherry and Fort Cochin. But enough said!! Enjoy yourself in Kovalam.
* As Jomol would tell you.
shai weβd need a complete another trip for allepy. Itβs an 8 hour drive coming and going so no point going for such a short trip.. π but allepy is def on the list now. :)Letβs see what all we try. I think i was soo missing out on Kerala. Goa is Goa but Kerala def is Godβs own country. π Thank you. π
I agree. You’d definitely need to set aside 2-3 days just for the backwaters, so no point squeezing it in to this trip! You look lovely in the saree over on IMBB!!
god! m going gaga over your pics…amazing place..seems so peaceful and divine!
thanks geetanjali. It is just divine!! :))

its soo lovely in kerala na… we went to kerala for our HM.. munnar, thekaddy, kumarakom, and kovalam.. aaah… such beautiful memories.. the pics are taking me back to our time there.. we stayed in the KTDC property Hotel Sumadra which is just near Taj.. the beach is fabulous na.. early morning walks are the best.. poovar island is gorgeous.. its where the backwaters meet the sea. you have to go to this place where there are motorboats on hire. they take you around the backwaters. there are even floating restaurants and resorts in the back waters.. there is spot which is like this mini beach where the backwaters meet the sea.. on one side are the waves of the sea lashing against the beach and the other side is so calm and serene.. its soo beautiful…cant be described in words.. kerala is indeed God’ own country.. the tea gardens and hills in munnar and surrounding areas.. the beach in kochi and kovalam.. the backwaters in kumarakom n allepey.. the jungles in thekaddy and wayanad.. there is soo much too explore.. even tho we had a ten days long trip and covered 4 places extensively, we still felt we had alot left to see.. kochi and wayanad is definitely on our list.. other places we would love to revisit and refresh the memories.. π π enjoii ur stay there.. look forward to more updates and pics from u.. muahahhhh
I think I totally took you back in time. :)) Sooo loved reading your comment. :-*

Rati I can imagine how peaceful you must be feeling.. by far the best property by Taj. I am in love with the cottage’s entrance. The sea looks beautiful. I love love love sea waves and the sound of sea waves take me into a different world altogether.
The pics speak so much I actually felt peaceful while looking at them. Never been to Kerala but have read so much about it like in Arundhati Roy’s “The God of Small Things”…Kerala has the old world charm..Oh my my Rati you are right into the nature’s lap.
Enjoy your stay hun.. π
I am little biased to coorg’s property actually. π This sea was scary.. it almost wanted to eat you up. hihih Thanks. :))

Rati, you made me nostalgic..I went to Kerala for my honeymoon.. π Aaahh..I just loved the place but how come you’re not going to Alleppey??? π― The Kerala backwaters and the house boat ride is not something to be missed. The Athirapally falls, the tea gardens, the beach,Munnar, Thekkadi, Cochin, the Periyar sanctuary they all are awesome places to go.. π Sample the banana chips and try the handmade chocolates..:P yummm..
