This trip has been one of the most amazing ones among the many trips that we have had so far. We have been pretty much on our toes exploring the different parts of Kashmir, each part more beautiful than the previous one, each a more interesting story than the other. And each with its own history.
Yesterday we decided to start our day by checking out Lal Chowk. I stepped out of the car and I had a panic attack. It is a crowded local market of Srinagar with its own notorious history. Locals somehow gauge that you are a tourist. Within seconds of getting off the car, a few sellers came up to us to sell the stuff. Someone suggested that we crossed the road and went to the market across. A bus conductor asked us to step inside the bus. It was insane. Within 2 minutes I decided that we head back. We decided to check out the beautiful Mughal Gardens.
We started with Shalimar Bagh. It was okay. For someone travelling to Srinagar, I think it can easily be skipped.
Then we went to the Nishat Garden. It was stunning. There are huge sprawling well maintained lawns, beautiful fountains, and thousands of beautiful flowers. It was a long walk till the end of the bagh. But well worth it. For the entrance of the garden you get a view of the Dal Lake and as you enter, you get to see the beautiful mountain range on the other end adding its charm to the garden. It’s amazing to walk the same lawns that the emperors must have walked on once upon a time. 🙂
Sharing some pics from yesterday. 🙂
