New Year, New Resolutions

The Entrance

Hiya Everyone. πŸ™‚

How is the New year coming along for you guys? I amΒ completelyΒ disoriented since the time I have stepped in Delhi. The cold is just killing me. I am just being lazy and trying to keep myself functional by sipping mugs of coffee and hot chocolate. πŸ˜›

Do you make New Year resolutions? I don’t because I am never able to live up to them. The only thing that I sort of thought at theΒ beginningΒ of last year was that I wanted to get fitter, which I did and some stuff for IMBB, which IΒ fulfilled. So all in all I was quite pleased with myself by the end of 2012. πŸ˜€

This year I have a few little things in mind that I want to do. I won’t tag them as resolutions because these are just little things that I want to make a part of my life not for this year but for every year. Here you go

  • Make fitness a part of my life than just something I want to do for a month or for a particular year. It keeps my mind clear more than anything else and that ’empty mind’ feeling is something that keeps my mood swings in place and helps me think straight.
  • Travel a LOT. This is Mr Husband’s dream and I am very ‘very’ happy to tag along. πŸ˜€
  • Forgive and forget. I am someone who forgets things but I may not be that forgiving. Life is too short to hold grudges. I want to move forward and be more forgiving.
  • Call people more than messaging them. πŸ˜› I am such a messaging junkie. Once someone asked me not to message him because he does not read the messages. So I ‘almost’ stopping calling or messaging that person. 😐 Even Mr Husband has complained so many times ‘ why don’t you just call’. grrr… Okay I’d call more. πŸ˜›
  • Meet more people. I am not too open about meeting people. Only if I am very comfortable talking to them over the phone or online, I’d go and meet. But I have met such lovely people and made such good friends because I did make an effort at taking that step. So I’d work more on that.
  • Buy gifts for friends and family. I did that the whole past year and it was so fulfilling. I want to continue doing that. It brings happiness and I love it. πŸ™‚

And rest is normal- IMBB, patient shopping than impulse shopping (hihi), eat less muffins :P, Β more home decor, learn how to travel light ( never understood why I need 5 shades of lipsticks + 2 lipliners + 2 glosses for a 3 day trip 😐 ), never buy bottoms online, get more pictures framed of Mr Husband and me, and guess that’s it. πŸ˜€

I would looove to hear what your resolutions and aspirations are for the coming year. πŸ™‚

Sharing some pics that Mr Husband clicked on our last day at the Lalit, Goa.

    • Rati says:

thanks you surbhi. :)) I know soo cold. Even the hater is taking so much time to warm up the room. Good lukc with your resolution. πŸ˜€

  2. Bee says:

    Rati dooooo muahhhh
happy nooo year sweetheart! and I’d like thank you for the beautiful virtual tour too. I showed your earlier palace ka pics to dad and made him promise that they’ll visit. hehehe
I need to exercise more too…. I’m kinda depressed these days for no reason :((
Also write more on IMBB and my blog too… I have clicked so many pics of lovely products and I’m being such a lazy A$$
Also, as you’re a photu lover… try getting one of those digital photo frames… they store like hundreds/thousands of pics and display them randomly. I gifted to my SIL .
If I happen to come there this year will get one for you :*

    • Rati says:

awww beenoo! Here the weather is depressing me. It’s grey and it’s beyond bearable. Totally not liking Delhi this winters. Mercury dropped to 2.7 this time, the coldest in past many years. And cheer up because spring is not too far. :-*

I guess all of you should visit umaid bhawan. It’s once in a lifetime experience. πŸ™‚

oh! would you be able to give me the link from where I can but the digi album. it sounds awesome. πŸ˜€

  3. Aruna says:

Rati…. You are an absolute sweetheart πŸ™‚ Such innocent ‘not-resolutions’. The pics are gorgeous but I really wanted to see at least one of yours πŸ˜‰

  4. jomol says:

Loved looking at the photus and I am really charged up for my fitness mission now πŸ˜›

  5. Shilpa Shri says:

Awww Rati U are so honest with your thoughts that I always reads your post 2-3 times and it really touch my heart. I am also a reserved person who nvr wants to talk with people but I am also trying to change that.. Thanks a lot and take care!!

  6. Parita says:

I have never made resolutions coz I don’t think I can stick to them πŸ™ but this yr I have promised myself few things and those are – to become fit and make exercise part of lifestyle, to use all my makeup items and only buy the stuff I need..I can be such a compulsive buyer at items! πŸ™ need to stop that… next would be to eat healthy food and in corporate bajra, jowar etc in my diet which I have been avoiding for quite some time now πŸ™‚
hope to loose weight and come back in shape.. πŸ™‚
loveee the pics..they look so cozy! I would love t visit goa some day!

    • Rati says:

You should definitely visit goa parita. You’d love it there. :))

awww!! I hope you are able to fulfill all your dreams and aspirations. πŸ™‚

  7. Rati..

I miss Delhi ka winters. No matter where I was during the last 30 yrs, I always came home during winters to enjoy the laziness and chai, gajar ka halwa and other wintery stuff and haan mum – made sweaters!

So ironic I was thinking yesterday ki I should message more often and not call for every small thing. I hardly type on my phone and mostly reply to sms by calls. 😐

And sweetie, you should include one more resolution – accepting gifts. Do you remember my sea shell candles? Just because I knew you loved candles, I made two in different colors esp. for you and wanted to send them to you; asked Jomo for your address but got a -ve response. πŸ™ I so wished I could send them to you.

Loved your resolutions. Mine are to lose weight.. and become less dependent on my helpers for everything; do more stuff by myself and spend less time on internet and more on papers and books! πŸ˜€

    • Rati says:

I am really not too good at accepting gifts so I am really sorry about that. Wonder if that would change about me. 😐

I type faster than I talk. loll!!! I really need to call people more and talk to them. πŸ˜›

Good luck with your resolutions. πŸ™‚

  8. deepthucharan says:

hi rati i like your resolutions…. i think so many people will have the same about theit fiyness… mee to try to full fill it…

  9. Tara says:

Wow pics…and last one is awesome! I mean having meal beside the sea is so awesomely romantic no….recalling my Malaysia trip…we had a wonderful stay at Langkawi πŸ™‚ Well let me come back to this freezing Delhi…Gosh I really dont like so much of cold…guess i’m more sunny person and missing Uncle Sun like anything 😐 Hey Rati, even I never make resolutions as such though keep couple of things in mind which I wish to do in the coming year…lets see!ish u both a terrific year ahead…loads of love and hugssss πŸ™‚

    • Rati says:

yeah It was like staring at the endlessness of the nature and enjoying your meal. It was beautiful. :)) I am also not enjoying ‘this’ much cold. This is more of a pain than the pleasant kinds that you like to enjoy. πŸ™

awww!! thanks. and all the best for all your resolutions. *hugs* πŸ™‚

  10. Devie says:

Those shrub elephants are the cutest! Does it feel to be different in Delhi with all the activism in the air?
As for my resolutions, a recurring resolution of mine is to use more natural products. IDK if they work better, but I feel good in giving my money to companies that are making the effort to use good ingredients πŸ˜€
And I somewhat relate to you about meeting more people… I’m very extroverted, but I am very wary about getting close to most people. Not exactly a resolution, but my goal is to let people into my life πŸ™‚
Do keep us updated on your fitness regimen and travel loads so we can enjoy those trips vicariously! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    • Rati says:

yeah they were quite quite and the elephant’s trunk was st in a way that it threw water in the pond. πŸ˜€ Actually these days people are mostly indoors. It’s crazily cold here and by 8 or something the streets start to get vacant. People are still working on getting justice for the girl but the city is calmer not… not sure if it is a good or a bad thing.

yeah natural products is a fab idea. I myself used a ton of forest essentials products last year and totally loved them. Going to stick to them for a long. Want to try burt’s bees stuff also not that Sepora is here . πŸ˜€

I do hope both sanjeev and I get to travel a ton this year. I am super excited. πŸ˜€

good luck with your resolutions. πŸ™‚

  11. Ankita Bardhan says:

Happy New Year Rati! Thank you for the sunny pics, else this harsh Delhi cold is gonna kill me.. :-\ Your to-dos inspired me to try being healthy for once πŸ˜›
Feeling like packing my bags and leave for Goa πŸ˜€
Hey even I can’t keep up with the resolutions thingy but yes 2013 is gonna be BIG for me, will fulfill the much-needed that I ignored for very long…firstly gonna start thinking about my happiness for once (self-indulgence on top), will become more and more social outside the online world, gonna meet peeps and make friends & moments, stop stressing about every single freaking thing and give myself a break, will stop multi-tasking and focus on one thing and the biggie (which I was postponing a lot)..will decide about settling down and marriage. Huff…full on action it is gonna be!

    • Rati says:

same. I keep staring at these pics and wishing for the sunny days. πŸ˜›

hihih!! Good luck with all your stuff and especially with the wedding thing. πŸ˜€ I got all excited reading this plan of yours. πŸ˜›

      do keep me updated. πŸ™‚

  12. calicoaster says:

Awww lovely resolutions Rati… πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ and loveddddd watching at the pics…I already feel so calm and happyyyy seeing them..he new year resolution is to get back in shape and start my work-from-home full throttle again.. πŸ˜€ :D..they aren’t resolutions as such..I’d do them anyway..still feels better to give them such fancy name – “resolution”..and yeah would aim to become a better mommy everyday!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

BTW..its so cold today here..and I read that Delhi is also freezing like hell…I hope you are taking proper care of yourself…huggggggssssss… πŸ˜€

    • Rati says:

awww!! I am sure you are an awesome mommy already. :))

Delhi si actually freezing like hell. Not enjoying it too much. πŸ™ Wearing a ton of clothes is totally not my thing. I felt such a sense of freedom in Goa. πŸ˜›

  13. Chars says:

yup Rati, Its very cold here. Your Goa pics in light clothes, made me feel dilli ki sardi even more. Even watching you made me say, thand lag rahi haiiii…

more OOTD of woollen clothes, pleaseee.

Loved the thought of ’empty mind’ , as an outcome of getting fit.

  14. Kat says:

Interesting post and lovely pictures..Hope you have a wonderful year ahead and get to do all that you wish and plan to do.
    * Fitness/health is in my agenda too. Trying to get regular with some form of exercise. Yoga has done wonders for me in the past. Need to get back to practicing it. Being healthy fixes a lot of other things.
    * I want to read more this year.
    * I know little bit of French. Brushing up my French is another thing that I want to do.
    * I so hear you about the ‘forget, but not forgive’ part. It works the same for me. I find it difficult to forgive. I want to learn to be indifferent to people & situations that does not matter. For my own good.
That is all I can think of now. One day at a time !

    • Rati says:

yeah read more is on my list as well. :)) I hope both of us are able to move forward in our forgiving part. πŸ™‚ Good luck to you. πŸ™‚

  15. Ramya says:

Loved reading ur posts as usual Rati. U have that personal touch in all ur posts that make us feel as though u r talking to us πŸ™‚
I loved ur Goa pics. I’m going there this month for the Christian wedding I told u abt. And my gown is back after alterations. Am sending u the pics asap. Have clicked them πŸ˜€
My resolution is also to get fitter πŸ˜€ As in, do full push ups, learn paada hastasana properly and do a perfect Chakrasana. I think Nidhi will be happy to read this. πŸ˜€ And another is to argue less. Am a vehement arguer (is that even a word?) 😐

    • Rati says:

you have made me so curious now ramya, I totally can’t wait to see your piccys. πŸ™‚ You know I used to be such a bond at doing chakrasana once upon a time. Now don’t think I can do it now. πŸ˜› all the best for your resolutions. I am sure you’d be able to do them. :))

  16. nidhi says:

Love the pics Rati…:) esp in this cold weather.,loved the sunlight ..;)
And good luck for your resolutions πŸ™‚
My resolutions for this year definitely includes making fitness a part if my life nd learning Zumba nd pilates.wch i ve been delaying for long…
Finally i joined Zumba classes, just attended one session nd i felt so good….
Happy winters to u nd Sanjeev πŸ™‚

    • Rati says:

oh wow!!! I did zumba a couple of times from you tube videos. was fun!! Have a great time . and happy winters to you as well. :))

  17. aru says:

Awesome resolutions. Look kinda doable versus the ‘lose 20 kgs this year’ types. :). Infact my friends and me came up with the ‘bucket list’ when we were vacationing on new years. Some of them seem likely to happen this year. so here are mine –

    lose 10 kgs – doable I think
Travel more – hopefully visiting a few countries because of my change in role. Tickets already booked for Vietnam as part of an official visit so thats a good start
Be less Stressed out – especially for things that are not in my control.
Forgive more and Let go – i get very confrontational about things that I cant accept
should stop worrying about whether i am being ‘liked’ and do things that are important to me- have this bad habit of going out of my way for ppl just so that people say ‘aruna is so sweet’. πŸ™ dosent help becos they dont reciprocate. Identify who is important in my life and who is worth all the time, money and effort.
Sky diving – not necessarily this year but at some time in my life
learn to drive – my husband and my dad will be the happiest ppl on this planet if I achieve that πŸ™‚

These were some of the few.:)

    • Rati says:

oh wow!!! do share your vietnam piccys. would love to see how the place is. πŸ™‚ same I guess i should also lern to stress out less for the things that are out of my control. i stress over small things. grrr..

good luck!!! sky diving experience sounds awesome but I dont have the heart to do so. i am such a chicken when it comes to adventure sports. πŸ˜›

      • aru says:

my friend recently went sky diving and she loved it. so i think its a must do for me. πŸ™‚ and its best to do all ths stuff when you are younger. you have all the stamina. the older you get the wish list gets longer but the stamina gets lesser and lesser.

        • Rati says:

yeah i agree 100% with what you say. all the best for your sky diving. I guess i might gain some courage form your experience. :))

  18. sandhya says:

Rati di as always great clicks by TG sir! on seeing these picture my husband started noticing that he also had stayed at the same resort in sept 12 for some conference! So did a lot of j faces to him! My new resolution is going to new beginnings! I have hit rock bottom and want to start afresh so hope and some new beginnings are going to mark 2013!!!!!!

  19. Janhavi says:

I have no resolutions this year – I guess the only things I would think of working on is being nicer, softer, calmer and happier πŸ˜€ If I can be a better me at the end of 2013 then I guess its been a great year ! πŸ˜€

Happy Nooo year and may all your resolutions come to fruition !

    • Rati says:

you always come across as happy happy person J do. happier of you would be aweosmest. hihihih πŸ˜€

happy nooo year to you too. mwwaahh!!

  20. pia says:

beautiful pics… love the virtual tour πŸ™‚

ur posts are so warmth and touching.. right from the heart πŸ™‚ love reading this blog.. my resolution for this year is :

    – get back to normal shape.. healthy, fab n fit πŸ™‚
    – hubby n me planning to travel as usual.. new places, new adventures.. we do 2 big trips every year.. hope to continue the trend this year too..
    – buy our own home this year
    – fight less with hubby and to be happy and stressfree at all times.. πŸ™‚

    • Rati says:

awww thankoo PIa. Good to know that you work at SCB. I looovveee SCB. We have been such loyal customers for years and have never had issues with them. I’d go to extent of calling them one of the best banks around. :))

I am all ears to hear about your exciting trips. andd aww!! good luck with your home. i am sure you’d have lots of dreams and hopes attached with it. *hugsss* Thankooo :))

  21. Aarbee says:

Ratiiiiii happy happy new year to you n Sanjeev! How are you? Saw your gorgeous Goa pics and I so want to go there to escape this horrible Delhi weather!
I have noticed that all my New Year resolutions basically come down to “Try to be somebody else”. But on a more serious note these are mine:
    – Use at least 50% of the makeup that I have bought last year
    – Eat at home more often
    – Travel less for work – its so exhausting living out of the suitcase
    – Be more tactful and diplomatic
    – Forgive n forget, I find both very difficult to do
    – Shed my fear and start driving more

    • Rati says:

A very Happy New year to you too aarbee. :)) I would go to Goa again , if I could. This weather is getting on me now. Have fallen horribly sick. No liking it. :((

I agree. Travel for work is not that a fun when you compare it to a regular vacation. But still it is better than not travelling at all. :))

Good luck with your resolutions. I hope we are able to achieve our goals sooner or later. :))

  22. coralcrue says:

I’m a messaging and mailing junking. I hate calling on the phone, it makes me feel uncomfortable in some ways lol I can’t explain it. Except for talking to my parents, I do not accept or make calls on the phone πŸ˜‰
