The Big Black Book

big black book

Hi Everyone. πŸ™‚

How is the week coming along for you? With the sale happening on IMBB tomorrow, the back-end of IMBB is quite insane. hihi. But actually we don’t complain. It’s like a little shopping party that we like to organize. I guess I’d like to offer virtual champagnes to everyone around. πŸ˜€

I got this ‘Big Black Book’ recently. I don’t write a diary. Never written. But I like to jot down my to-do lists . I am someone who is constantly thinking (about things in general, work, ideas, movies, food, makeup, clothes (:P) etc. ). If I don’t pen down the stuff, it gets all hodgepodge in my mind. I especially like to note down the to-do lists, and then cross them once I have finished doing the job . The whole process of crossing the ‘done’ task is very satisfying for me. πŸ˜€ Do you also maintain your little diary?

On Monday I want to watch To Rome with Love . It is directed by the great Woody Allen. I am not too convinced with the trailer but I still want to watch it. 😐 Anyone going for Raaz 3?

Have a great Friday everyone. :)) Mwwwaah!

Actually I never kept a diary. I somehow feel that my forgetting about things habit is quite good. I sort of move on – forgive and forget. IF I keep a diary I guess I’d never be able to get over my grudges. But yeah the negative side is that I sometimes forget about the happy memories too. πŸ˜›

I feel like having a holiday again. πŸ˜›

Thank you and have a great weekend. :))

Actually i have been writing diaries sine I was 13 so now I have a stack full of memories to look back at.. in fact sometimes I read my teen diaries and boy it is soo embarrassing and at the same time very funny… u can some times see ur personal growth through them…. I have penned down my fights, crushes, good, bad, ugly.. every single moment of my life.. If i were a movie star I am sure the media would love to get their hands on my diary… lol… then all chatpata news will come out…

I also maintain a “to do” list and I love crossing them at the end of each day and also carry a task forward to the next day if I have completed it … I agree with u….. the whole idea of crossing them is v satisfying πŸ™‚ My office colleagues tease me bt who cares πŸ™‚

    • Rati says:

lolll!! I guess now I am also curious about getting my hands on your stack of diaries. it would be like Harry Potter’s Pensieve . πŸ˜›

I swear that crossing part is the most exciting part. Total Zen. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      • Deepa says:

Lol… Harry Potter’s Pensieve.. totally well said πŸ™‚ may one one day when I am old and have nothing to do.. these will come handy πŸ˜‰

I used to keep a diary but it became to controversial πŸ˜› as i used to pen down every thought!
but i still need to write as it makes me feel light n i get rid of the excesses, so i write on my blog…! πŸ™‚
    waiting for the sale πŸ™‚

    • Rati says:

I know what you mean. i have come across 2 people hose diaries have created quite a sir in their personal lives. πŸ˜› yeah blogging is pretty awesome but you know the kind of secrets you can write in your diary, you cannot write on your blog. πŸ˜€

      i sound so sneaky. hihih

  5. Surbhi says:

Tomorrow is blog sale? Wow. Good luck Rati di. I m sure its going to be very successful. πŸ™‚ I wanted to participate but my parents would kill me.they have asked me to take break from my make up n reviews Cz i have finals in November. πŸ™ But then i convinced them that i can do all this after studying the entire day πŸ˜› i will take part in next blog sale. I will get permission till then. πŸ™‚
I don’t wanna waste time on Raaz 3 till i am sure its worth it. U goin? Do let us know how’s it if you go. πŸ™‚

    • Rati says:

Thanks surbhi. :)) I am totally not going for raaz 3. i dont watch horror movies at all. i am quite a chicken in that area. πŸ˜›

And good luck with your studies. Enjoy shopping from the sale next time. πŸ™‚

      • Surbhi says:

        Thanks Rati di πŸ™‚
I cant watch Hollywood horror movies. they scare the hell out of me. i can watch bollywood ones because they are still tolerable (p.s. i stay awake entire night after watching, a slightest sound makes me jump out of bed) πŸ˜›

Rati – you have such a wonderful knack of writing about us that makes us think. what a lovely topic. I would love to keep a diary but just dont have the dedication for it. I used to pen my thoughts on flights earlier. but stopped that too. would be good to keep one though.

I am super excited abt the weekend. am off to bombay on sunday and am there the whole week. Some quality time with my folks and my friends. a little bit of shopping but its going to be mostly about bothering my mom and dad..:) and something tells me they r looking forward to me bothering them too..:)

P.S some kryolan and MAC shopping if I can.

    • Rati says:

yeah I guess writing on flights would be a such a great stress buster. I like to read and sleep while travelling and On international flights, I am quite stuck with movies. πŸ˜€

I am looking forward to your mumbai piccys. Do click and share. πŸ˜€

You know no matter how old we grow , the charm of getting things from parents is totally awesome. When my dad gives me money,i like to flaunt it for so many days. πŸ˜›

      Have fun!! :))

  7. pia says:

i used to maintain a diary when i was youn ger.. even while in college.. nowadays.. just dont have the time or the dedication..

at work though.. life without a diary is impossible.. there are always so many “to-do’s” to keep track of.. i keep my diary with me all the time πŸ™‚ tho my diary is not as cute looking as urs.. hihih!! :p :p

raaz 3 .. umm i dunno.. im not interested in watching.. to rome with love sounds good.. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

this weekend we have the house to ourselves.. mum in law and bro in law n his wife n kid are not gonna be around.. so it shoudl be quality time with hubby n catching up on some errands n movies.. maybe some shopping tooooo πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    • Rati says:

I like to buy cute stationary. it keeps me inspired. πŸ˜› i swet it would be maddening without writing the to do list. You also buy a cutie diary now. πŸ˜€

No not watching raaz 3 even if someone pays me to watch it. πŸ˜›

      awww!! enjoyyyyzzzzz πŸ˜€

  8. Ramya says:

Ratiiii I love ur diary!!!!!! πŸ™‚
I used to keep one when I was younger, mainly to vent. Not everyday but when I felt upto it. I remember having this cute pink one with a lock n key πŸ™‚
Reading it now feels pretty funny n there r many Oh-My-God-was-I-really-THAT-silly kinda moments.. And when I read abt exes its like, “Did I really feel like this abt HIM?? What was I THINKING??!!” LOL.
Now I havent the time. And am not a to-do list person at all. If I could forget my own birthday, I would. I have even been known to wear a dress inside out once, thankfully a female colleague made an enbarrasing noise, pulled me aside n told me. Am that disorganised.
Hmmm. Maybe this to-do list idea will benefit me more than I know *thinking abt buying a cute to-do list book*

    • Rati says:

that’s such a hilarious comment ramya. Actually I have quite a few ‘did I have crush on HIM’ like really? ” kinda moments and I get butterflies in my stomach when i think about all those funny school/ college moments. loll!! Thank god I dont have a diary for all that. i dint know where to hide my face then. πŸ˜›

I end up wearing my PJs inside out so many times. I mean they look the same both ways ..isnlt it. 😐 Damn! πŸ˜›

      • Ramya says:

PJs toh I dont even check, I’ll be so sleepy that I only wear them for the sake of, um, wearing something πŸ˜› And oh!! they look totally same πŸ˜‰
Actually PJ makers should try n make PJs so that they look like different PJs both ways. Then it’ll be like, buy one n wear two!! Yipee !!

  9. sandhya says:

Rati di somehow after reading this i am curious about your handwriting! Could you please show it! Andthe joy of an all tick marked to do list is just like having one’s fav dersert after a hard days work! Couldnt describe it better!

  10. gurpreet says:

hi five. i too keep a small diary in my purse all the time. i get crazy ideas at any time.. s alwas put it down.. as u said it includes.. to do list, shopping list, ideas for gifts, will buy, must buy list and so on.. as said.. i just love to tick when the task is complete. and usually stike on the entire page once all the tasks in that page is complete.. my small diary is going to get over and i am so happy to pick a new one soon..

    • Rati says:

oh i loved your idea of listing down ‘ideas for gifts ‘ . I should totally do that. Most of the time I am just confused about what I must gift to people. 😐

  11. Ritika says:

Have you read The little black book of style by Nina Garcia ??
I have heard its pretty nice plus the cover is super sexy ! I bought it last year but never got time to read it πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

May be I will start now πŸ˜€

  12. Ritika says:

Its all about what to wear and what to invest in. What kind of shoes to wear with what kind of dress. Okay now I really feel like an idiot for not reading this book πŸ™

PS : I saw Tresseme products in the super market yesterday ! My heart literally skipped a beat, I had no idea they were coming to India. Plus they are so CHEAP. Do you know if they are launching there whole line ? πŸ˜€

  13. Jabberwocky says:

I used to write a diary till I was 19. Then, one day I read an old diary that I wrote when I was 16 and I realised that I sounded so painfully *stupid*! You know, that whole teenage angst, boohoo-no-one-lowwwwes-me, that-cute-tuition-guy-never-looks-at-me, I-hate-XYZteacher and so on. That was a big blow to my inflated ego . I, the mighty, Jabberwocky, who considers herself so cool now was an idiotic popinjay of a teenager. I just realised that I will go on improving with age but I never want to go back and read how dumb I used to be. πŸ˜› So, now, I just have the to-do list, important classes/lectures/meets to attend and the movies/bands/books/eating joints to check out list.

I love your ‘The Big Black Book’. I am going to hunt for a similar one because it’ll be a nice change from my usually decorative notebooks with crazy stuff printed on the flyleaf (there’s one which talks about the history of tea, and another one has the songs from LOTR). πŸ˜€ By the way, when I first read the post title, I thought it was a sequel to ‘The Little Black Book of Style’. πŸ˜› Have you read it? If not, buy a copy. You’ll love it.
